How to Choose a Lubricant

Lube makes almost everything more comfortable. The right one depends on what you are using it with.

Water-based

The all-round choice. It works with silicone toys and latex condoms, washes off easily and does not stain. It dries faster, so you may need to reapply.

Silicone-based

Slicker and longer-lasting, and it works in water. It is safe with latex condoms, but it can damage silicone toys, so use it with glass, metal or hard plastic instead.

Hybrid

A blend of water and silicone. It lasts longer than water-based lube and washes off more easily than silicone lube. Check the label before using it with silicone toys.

Oil-based

Oils feel good for massage, but they can weaken latex condoms. Do not use them together.

Sensitive skin

Choose a lube without added fragrance, flavor or warming agents. If you react to a product, stop using it.
