A Beginner's Guide to Anal Play
Anal play is common, and it is much better when you go slowly and use the right gear. This is a short safety-first guide. It is general information, not medical advice.
Use a flared base, always
Anything that goes into the anus needs a flared base or a retrieval loop. Without one, it can slip too far in.
Lube, then more lube
The anus does not self-lubricate. Use a lot of water-based lube, and reapply. Silicone lube is slicker but damages silicone toys.
Start small and go slowly
A small plug or a set of graduated trainers is a good start. Relax, breathe, and stop if anything hurts.
Clean between uses
Wash toys with warm water and mild soap or a toy cleaner. Do not move a toy from the anus to the vagina without cleaning it or changing the condom.
Know when to stop
Sharp pain is a signal to stop. If you have pain or bleeding that does not go away, talk to a doctor.
